UC Davis is preparing for a day of civil discourse and peaceful expression, as the campus hosts members of the University of California Board of Regents and faculty and students organize “teach-ins” on public disinvestment in higher education, the Occupy movement and other topics.

UC Davis is one of four campuses where regents will gather for a morning audioconference meeting. The other sites are UCLA, UC Merced and UCSF Mission Bay.

Contrary to misinformation that has circulated widely on the Internet and via social media, no tuition increase is on the agenda.

Beginning at about 9 a.m., the regents will hear public comments. An estimated 15 minutes will be allotted for comments from Davis.

The community is welcome to sit in on the public portions of the regents’ audioconference meeting at UC Davis, which will take place in the Activities and Recreation Center (ARC) ballroom. Overflow seating will be in the adjacent ARC Pavilion.

If you’re planning to attend the UC Davis portion of the audioconference, please be prepared for a search of backpacks – and don’t bring banners or bottled water, which will not be allowed in the ARC ballroom. No such restrictions will apply to overflow seating in the Pavilion.
