Manetti Shrem hosts online graduate exhibition, awards prizes
If you missed the live version of the The Arts & Humanities 2020 Graduate Exhibition online, you can still catch it online at the Manetti Shrem Museum website now through June 28 (it was just extended two weeks). Awards were given last week. A twist on the traditional MFA exhibition, the multidisciplinary show presents the work of 30 graduate students in seven disciplines: art history, art studio, design, creative writing, cultural studies, music and Native American studies.
The fourth annual Keister & Allen Art Purchase Prize revives an Aggie tradition from the mid-1960s in which an art studio MFA student’s work is acquired for the university’s Fine Arts Collection. This generous award goes to Dongwan Hong.
Another prize was also awarded. The Savageau Award in the Department of Design encourages, recognizes and celebrates creative and original contributions to the discipline of design. Chosen by the design faculty, this year’s winner is Eldy S. Lázaro Vásquez.
