Professor of Art and Art History Annabeth Rosen in conversation with Michelle Millar Fisher of the Museum of Contemporary Art Boston at the Contemporary Jewish Museum in San Francisco on Friday, Jan. 17 at 12:30 p.m.. Second Bite: the Wisdom of the Apple, 1930 5th St., Davis, every Thursday through April 30, 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., free
- The immersive art installation, Second Bite: the Wisdom of the Apple, was created by Adele Louise Shaw and Larry Dieterich. The installation is made from nearly 100 Apple computers and is “a clear celebration of women, with representations from various cultures and throughout all stages of life…” Reservations, via purchase of free tickets, are encouraged. Private showings can also be scheduled.

- An exhibition on world textiles opens late January. The exhibition, curated by Paul J. Smith, highlights “traditional textiles from Africa, Asia and South America” as well a works by UC Davis students highlighting the continuing relevance of traditional cultures and how they drive design thinking in new directions.

- An exhibition of work by painter Granville Redmond will be on display at the Crocker Museum through early May. Redmond’s work depicts the natural beauty of the California landscape, primarily in oils.

- The biennial Taproot New Music Festival will feature Quince Ensemble, Spektral Quartet, and Empyrean Ensemble. The festival is presented by the UC Davis Department of Music and the Robert and Margrit Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts.
