The UC Davis baseball team prides itself on playing the game the right way, emphasizing the fundamentals so student-athletes succeed on and off the field.

One former Aggie ballplayer, Daniel Descalso, played for the 2011 World Champion St. Louis Cardinals after putting up some of the best stats ever at UC Davis. Read more about Descalso, the first Aggie position player to make the major leagues. On this year’s squad, left-handed pitcher Dayne Quist’s stellar performance has attracted national attention as the team heads into its final month of play.

Whether baseball or another sport, the UC Davis intercollegiate sports experience is open to everyone — spectators as well as participants. There are 23 varsity teams playing at venues such as Aggie Stadium, the Pavilion and the Schaal Aquatics Center. Four years after a successful transition to Division I, student-athletes who play baseball and other sports continue to perform at a high level academically even as the level of athletic competition has risen.

The Aggies return home to host Cal Poly in a Big West Conference three-game series starting today.  Games are at 2:30 p.m. today and 1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
