Midnight Splash
There is regular splashing and there is belly flop splashing — and you can do both at Campus Recreation’s Midnight Splash. The event also will include kayak races and live music, organizers said.
Midnight Splash is scheduled from 9 p.m. Aug. 14 to 1 a.m. Aug. 15 at the Rec Pool, Hutchison Drive and La Rue Road. Admission is free for UC Davis students and Activities and Recreation Center members; $6 for the general public.
People are invited to bring food and coolers (no glass or alcoholic beverages). The band DoubleLion will perform reggae music, organizers said.
A belly flop contest is set for 10 p.m. and inflatable kayak races at 11, with sign-ups for both intramural contests starting at 9:45 p.m.
Band-uh’s last Jam-uh!
The Cal Aggie Marching Band-uh’s last open rehearsal of the summer is scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m. Aug. 17 on the lawn outside the Rec Pool and the Rec Pool Lodge. The rehearsal is free and open to the public.
You can take a swim beforehand, if you like; the Rec Pool is open from 2 to 7 p.m. Admission is free for Activities and Recreation Center members, $4 for the general public, $3.50 for ages 3 to 17, and free for ages 2 and under. UC Davis students are admitted free, while continuing students (not presently enrolled) pay $2.
