Chancellor Linda P.B. Katehi today (Nov. 4) issued the following statement:

I know you share my deep concerns about the stabbing incidents that occurred at UC Merced this morning. We are grateful that all four victims are expected to recover. We extend our thoughts and prayers to the families and to the entire Merced community. UC Davis stands ready to support our sister UC campus in any way we can.

While violence on campuses and in schools across the country continues to occur on a regular basis, we hope that communities and our country can learn from these terribly troubling incidents and find a positive path forward.

I want you to know that UC Davis has resources available for students, faculty and staff here who may be in need. The Student Health and Wellness Center has counselors available 24 hours a day by phone at (530) 752-0871. For employees, the Academic and Staff Assistance Program (ASAP) provides counseling services for faculty, staff and families. ASAP can be reached at (530) 752-2727. If you notice someone in distress, please encourage them to utilize these resources.
