Chancellor Gary S. May is among a number of regional experts and thought leaders whose voices will be shared over the coming months on a broadcast series predicting California’s future.

“California 2030,” airing on CBS Sacramento’s new Primetime Sacramento newscast, features discussions on education, local food, electric vehicles, crime, media and more.

“What we’re thinking about in terms of 2030 and beyond is what happens after the diploma,” May said in one of the network’s first segments, about student success.

“We know that by 2030, about 40% of the jobs in California will require a university degree,” he said on another segment. “Right now we’re at about 29% of the population who attain a degree. So what we’re going to have to do is to continue to enhance our enrollment.”

May is scheduled to appear on the program each month through August. He has thus far spoken about:
