A new year presents an opportunity to look ahead and plan for the future, and UC Davis is heading into 2020 with a plan for growth and increased public awareness throughout the decade.
AT A GLANCE
- WHAT: 2020 Kickoff Celebration, for all staff and faculty
- WHEN: Interactive activities, 2-3 p.m.; program, 3-4:30 p.m.
- WHERE: The Pavilion at the ARC
- ADMISSION: Free, please register here.
Chancellor Gary S. May will unveil that plan at the 2020 Kickoff Celebration on Monday, Jan. 27, in The Pavilion at the ARC, while on the Sacramento campus Vice Chancellor of Human Health Sciences David Lubarsky will host a similar event, both connected through a live video simulcast.
May will share a glimpse into the future of UC Davis and the ways the university will continue to grow and evolve. The staff and faculty in attendance will hear more about their role in continuing to make UC Davis a powerhouse institution with national and international recognition.
Before the main event, hands-on exhibits (beginning at 2 p.m.) will invite attendees to select home garden seeds from the UC Davis Arboretum and Public Garden and take home vegetables from the Student Farm. Attendees can also explore UC Davis research in virtual reality or hear about new discoveries at listening stations for Unfold, the university’s new podcast.
In addition, photo and video booths will be set up for faculty and staff to share their own stories and hopes for the future, and photographers will be on hand to take professional headshots that people can use on social media or university webpages.
UC Davis-branded items will be given away and refreshments will be served. The event is free, and RSVPs are required online.
