PG&E crews will conduct a controlled release of natural gas near the Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art next week as part of maintenance work on underground lines. Those in the Gateway District of campus may smell gas and hear noise associated with the release.
The work, in Visitor Lot 2 behind the museum, is scheduled for approximately 9 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, and may last up to one hour. Friday, Sept. 11, has been identified as a contingency date if the work carries over.
An additional controlled release is anticipated at approximately 9 a.m. Monday, Sept. 21, when the line is returned to service.
While no issues are anticipated, it is always good to know what to do if you smell natural gas outside the times or area described above: Leave the area and call 911. For non-emergency public safety concerns, contact UC Davis Police at 530-752-1727.
