More than 40 people volunteered to say goodbye to their hair for a good cause this week. The UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center held its first Rock the Bald event Monday (March 11), a head-shaving fundraiser that brought together UC Davis Health, long-time partner Keaton’s Child Cancer Alliance and the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. Funds raised directly benefit childhood cancer research.
Several attendees spontaneously decided to shave their heads during the event, including some players from Sacramento Republic FC. The fundraiser is just shy of its $50,000 goal, but donations are still being accepted online.
