Virtual performances are nothing new to the Department of Music, but the UC Davis Symphony Orchestra and others went all out for a recent presentation of Gustav Mahler’s Urlicht from Symphony No. 2.
The video, above, includes current and past members of the symphony, a conductor in an empty Mondavi Center, as well as dancers in Buenos Aires, Davis and Sacramento. It also featured a renowned singer.
“May this remote orchestra video featuring two-time Grammy-winning mezzo-soprano Sasha Cooke bring much joy, beauty and hope to everyone,” conductor Christian Baldini said on Facebook. “Let's hope 2021 will bring us all a world in good health and spirits. Happy Holidays!”
