Unitrans scales back over the holidays

Unitrans, the campus-city bus service, is scaling back operations during the winter holiday period, from Dec. 14 through Jan. 1.

This is something Unitrans does every year, said Anthony Palmere, assistant general manager. This year is somewhat different because of the campus's three official closure days, Dec. 28-30, but the Unitrans holiday schedule already takes in those days — so Unitrans service will not be affected any more than normal during the break between fall and winter quarters.

Here is the schedule:

• Monday-Friday, Dec. 14-18, and Monday-Wednesday, Dec. 21 to 23 — Unitrans will operate its Break-Summer Service.

• Thursday-Friday, Dec. 24-25 — No service.

• Monday-Wednesday, Dec. 28-30 — Saturday service plus UniRide, which will take you from one bus stop to any other, available on a first-come, first-served basis from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

• Thursday-Friday, Dec. 31-Jan. 1 — No service.

Unitrans will run its Saturday service as usual on Saturdays, Dec. 19 and 26, and Jan. 2. Unitrans' Sunday service is limited to UniRide and the Amtrak shuttle.

UniRide: (530) 754-4373. Unitrans advises: “It is best to call between 9 and 10 a.m., even if your trip request is later in the day, as the ride slots can fill up quickly."

Davis-Sacramento shuttle service curtailed

The UC Davis-UC Davis Medical Center shuttle will operate on a reduced holiday schedule Dec. 21-23, because of the impending holidays, and there will be no shuttle service at all Dec. 24 through Jan. 1, officials said. They said normal service will resume Jan. 4.

The Dec. 21-23 schedule shows shuttles leaving the medical center at 6:20,
7:10, 8:10 and 11:10 a.m., and 3:10, 4:10 and 5:15 p.m.

Departure times from the Davis campus are as follows:

• Silo — 7:10, 8:10 and 9:10 a.m., and 12:10, 4:10, 5:10 and 6:10 p.m.

• Lot 56 — 7:13, 8:13 and 9:13 a.m., and 12:13, 4:13, 5:13 and 6:13 p.m.

• Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts — 7:21, 8:21 and 9:21 a.m., and 12:21, 4:21, 5:21 and 6:21 p.m.
