Gifts for Proud Aggies

We’re here with some fresh gift ideas that say UC Davis, including the 2022 edition of our Olio Nuovo, or “new oil,” the freshest kind of olive oil; pillows handcrafted from old marching band uniforms; apparel and accessories; and subscriptions to UC Davis Magazine.

"Olio Nuovo" olive oil bottle, slender, green, in hand

Let’s start with the new olive oil — the star of the UC Davis Olive Center’s Olio Nuovo Festival this Saturday (Dec. 10), where you will have your first opportunity to taste and buy the center’s newest product ($22.50 per 250-milliliter bottle). The center’s other olive oils, Gunrock Estate, Wolfskill Reserve Estate and Roasted Garlic, also will be for sale ($18 per 250-mL bottle or $55 for a gift set of three bottles, one of each oil).

Buy UC Davis Olive Oils at the Olio Nuovo Festival (Dec. 10), the Campus Store and Downtown Store, or online.

Pillow Pride

Aggie logo of mustang in horseshoe, on pillow

When your marching band gets new uniforms, what do you do with the old ones? Make pillows, of course, with the help of the UC Davis Craft Center! The textiles student manager, Olivia Silvera, took on the project, formulating the production process and training Craft Center managers and volunteers in how to assemble the pillows. Later, when the Craft Center team returned to its other duties, the band finished up the project, which is raising funds to support the band. Available from UC Davis Stores (in limited quantity), $45.99.
