Travel policy changes now in effect
A letter from UC President Janet Napolitano reminds of changes to the UC Travel Regulations policy, BFB G-28, that took effect Oct. 15. Core changes relate to travel within the continental United States under 30 days, as follows:
- Daily meals and incidentals reimbursement — Maximum reduced to $62, from $74.
- Lodging reimbursement — Maximum established at $275 per night, before taxes and mandatory hotel fees. Exceptions are allowed if a hotel rate at $275 is not available.
You can read the amended policy here.
UC Davis, Sac Republic formalize new deal
UC Davis Health and Sacramento Republic FC announced Monday (Oct. 16) that they have formalized a partnership establishing the health system as the founding jersey, or “kit,” sponsor for Sac Republic as a Major League Soccer club. The team is bidding for one of two MLS expansion franchises expected to be awarded in December.
The health system has been the Sac Republic kit sponsor since the team started play in the United Soccer League in 2014. As Sac Republic and the city of Sacramento pressed their efforts to step up to the MLS, the soccer club and the health system announced in July 2016 that they intended to step up their partnership as well — and now it is a done deal, to run from the team’s inaugural season in the major league (expected to be 2020) through the 2024 season.
“This is a partnership not just between UC Davis Health and Republic FC, but for the entire Sacramento community,” said Ann Madden Rice, chief executive officer of UC Davis Medical Center.
As part of the agreement, UC Davis Health and Republic FC will allocate at least $300,000 toward community-based programs that focus on youth wellness, neighborhood outreach, public health clinics and youth sports clinics.
“UC Davis Health has been a vital ally to Republic FC from Day 1, and its willingness to formalize our partnership sends a powerful message to MLS about how strong our community support is here in Sacramento,” said Kevin Nagle, Republic FC chairman and chief executive officer.
Supplies and sustainability go together in showcase
This year’s UC Davis Supplier Showcase will feature more than 30 vendors, offering and demonstrating a wide range of items from laboratory and life sciences supplies to furniture, office supplies and computer equipment.
Many of the suppliers are available (or soon will be) in the campus’s e-procurement system, AggieBuy. Since launching AggieBuy last year, the Supply Chain Management team has been developing purchase agreements with some of the most sought-after suppliers, including Eppendorf, Rainin and Illumina (lab and research equipment).
The showcase, complete with giveaways and prizes, is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, at the Conference Center. Complete information, including a list of the participating vendors, is available online.
Because the showcase occurs during Campus Sustainability Month, as proclaimed by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education, the Supplier Showcase has a theme of “Buy Green, Save Green,” highlighting the ways the suppliers are meeting or exceeding the university’s sustainability goals. Breakout sessions will include tutorials on using AggieBuy reports to make sustainable purchasing choices — both environmentally and financially.
New group: Staff and Faculty Womxn of Color
The Academic and Staff Assistance Program and the Women’s Resources and Research Center have partnered to bring a unique and exciting opportunity to help support women of color on the UC Davis campus. The first meeting of the Staff and Faculty Womxn of Color Group is scheduled from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, in the WRRC’s Righteous Babes lounge, with lunch provided.
More information is available here, along with the RSVP form. Space is limited.
