Registration is under way for the staff town hall on Thursday, March 22, with the chancellor and provost.

The town hall is scheduled from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in the Activities and Recreation Center, and also will be streamed live on the Web (look for the link on the UC Davis home page, the day of the town hall).

"This meeting is to provide staff with an opportunity to ask questions, express concerns and provide feedback about the campus," reads the invitation from Chancellor Linda P.B. Katehi and Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor Ralph J. Hexter.

Other panelists: John Meyer, vice chancellor, Administrative and Resource Management; Kelly Ratliff, associate vice chancellor, Budget and Institutional Analysis; and Karen Hull, associate vice chancellor, Human Resources. Staff Assembly Chair Rob Kerner is listed as the moderator.

People wishing to attend are asked to register by Friday, March 16, via the UC Learning Center (search for "staff town hall"). Release time with supervisor approval is appropriate.

Angela Davis, Tuskegee airman on video

The Cross Cultural Center has provided video links for people interested in seeing and hearing two recent visitors to the campus: Angela Davis and Tuskegee airman George Porter:

• Angela Davis, participant in the Hart Hall Social Justic Initiative Teach-in, Feb. 23. First half of the program (Davis and student panel), second half (faculty round table).

• George Porter, a visitor in Associate Professor Halifu Osumare’s African American and African Studies 100, Feb. 7.

Passport Day at the ARC Business Center

Campus Recreation is celebrating Passport Day in the U.S.A. at the ARC Business Center, where passport services are available year-round.

Passport Day in the U.S.A., designated by the Department of State, is Saturday, March 10. "This event is a national outreach event to inform the public about changes to U.S. travel document requirements, and offer passport information," according to a news release from Campus Rec.

The Business Center, on the first floor of the Activities and Recreation Center, will have extended hours on Passport Day in the U.S.A., 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The center provides passport application forms, collects fees and forwards completed applications to the Department of State. You can even have the Business Center take your photo, to go with your application.

Regular hours: 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Friday, and 1-4 p.m. Saturday. The Saturday hours are for passport services only.
