NEWS BRIEFS: UC Davis in top 50 worldwide for reputation

The good rankings keep on coming! UC Davis is 44th in Times Higher Education’s World Reputation Rankings 2015, released March 11.

The rankings are a subset of Times Higher Education’s World University Rankings, published in the fall. The reputation rankings are based on an international survey of more than 10,000 academics in 142 countries.

The news came one day after U.S. News & World Report released its new graduate and professional school rankings, in which the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine claimed the No. 1 spot, moving up from No. 2 in the country.

Smoke-tobacco survey deadline Friday

You have only a few more days to answer a short, online survey on the university’s smoke- and tobacco-free policy. The deadline is this Friday (March 20).

The survey asks is you are aware of the policy, whether you have approached anyone who may have been violating the policy, and what penalties, if any, should be enacted.

The policy took effect on the Davis campus on Jan. 1, 2014, and enforcement has been limited to education with an emphasis on cessation resources.

Now, in Year 2, the Smoke and Tobacco Free Steering Committee wants to hear from the campus community about how this approach has been working and whether additional options should be considered. Read more.

Here’s the survey link. If you choose to enter your email address, you’ll be entered in a drawing for four $50 Target gift cards.

More information about the Davis campus policy is available online, at Breathe Free UC Davis.

The ads will appear on television and radio, and the Web and social media, and in print and on billboards throughout the greater Sacramento area through mid-May.
