“We are delighted to welcome Courtney Randall to UC Davis and the Aggie family,” DeLuca said in a news release highlighting Randall’s wealth of experience.

He comes to UC Davis from Louisiana State University, where he worked with student-athletes as the director of Tiger Life, designing and implementing programs in career preparation, community engagement, character development, and diversity and inclusion.

He served on LSU’s Athletics Leadership Council for Diversity Equity and Inclusion, helping to create and advise the university’s Black Student-Athlete Association, and introducing a town-hall-style program amplifying the voices of student-athletes, staff and scholars in support of social justice and equity.

He previously worked in athletics at Washington State University, serving as the coordinator of career and leadership development.

“Davis is a special place, with a one-of-a-kind program in Aggie Athletics,” Randall said in a news release from Aggie Athletics. “I cannot wait to serve our student-athletes, staff and university community in building a more equitable, supportive and engaging experience for all Aggies.”

As a member of the senior staff, Randall will lead DEI efforts in education and resources for student-athletes, coaches and staff. And, as the chief diversity officer for athletics, he will collaborate with UC Davis administrators and programs to help further UC Davis’ strategic vision for DEI.

Randall, originally from Rialto, California, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology at the University of Nevada, Reno, where he was a four-year letter winner in football, 2006-10 (the 2010 team finished the season ranked 11th in the AP Poll). He followed up his undergraduate degree with a Master of Arts degree in counseling and educational psychology from Nevada.

He earned a Master of Education degree in adult and higher education, with an emphasis in intercollegiate athletics, from the University of Oklahoma, where he served as a graduate assistant for the Athletics Diversity Council.
