Kick off the fall quarter with this month’s episode of Face to Face With Chancellor May, featuring new head football coach Tim Plough ’08 in conversation with Chancellor Gary S. May.
Longtime fans will recognize Plough from his undergraduate playing career at UC Davis, where he was one of the team’s quarterbacks for three seasons starting in 2004, followed by a year as the starter.
In an energetic conversation, May talked to Plough about his connections to the university and how returning to Aggie football boiled down to the program's strengths.
“I’m looking for guys that have an insatiable desire to do something more than just the normal things,” Plough said. “In Davis, you’re surrounded by guys like that.”
After completing his bachelor's degree in history, Plough pursued multiple offensive football coaching positions, including stints at Davis, UC Berkeley, Northern Arizona and Boise State. Now he is back at his alma mater implementing years of teaching experience on familiar turf.
Tune in as Plough breaks down how UC Davis student-athletes can thrive in the classroom and on the scoreboard, referencing Aggie alum Keelan Doss ’18 as a recent example. Doss completed his degree and has most recently played as a wide receiver for the Las Vegas Raiders.
Hear Plough reflect on his college playing career and raising three children in Davis with his wife and fellow Aggie alum, Christine, and their more-than-20 years of connections with California’s college town.
Stayed tuned for May’s “Hot Seat” round, where the two discuss the leaders that have inspired them and their roles on campus, plus Plough’s newfound love of country music.
