Suspect Still At Large as Shelter in Place Is Lifted

Updated 5:50 a.m.: Police have concluded their search for the suspect in a stabbing that took place in the city of Davis overnight and lifted the shelter in place order. The suspect was not located. 

City of Davis police issued a message lifting the shelter in place at 5:17 a.m.

Davis police received a 911 call at about 11:46 p.m. Monday (May 1) reporting a stabbing that occurred in the area of Second and L streets. Officers immediately responded and located the female victim who reported that the suspect, outside a tent, had stabbed her more than once, through the tent. The victim was treated at the scene and transported to the UC Davis Medical Center.

The suspect was described as a light-complected male with curly hair; 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-9 with a thin build; wearing a black or blue sweatshirt, black Adidas pants with white stripes, black shoes; and carrying a brown backpack. The suspect was last seen running west on Third Street from L Street.


Davis and UC Davis police are searching for a suspect early today (May 2) following a stabbing in the area of Second and L streets. A campus WarnMe message was issued about 1 a.m. advising the community to shelter in place until further notice.

The suspect matches the description of previous stabbing incidents. He is described as a male wearing all dark clothing, possibly a blue shirt and jeans, carrying a black backpack and wearing black Adidas shoes with stripes. The suspect was last seen running west on Third Street.

Monday night (May 1), UC Davis police deployed extra private security on campus and added personnel and vans to the Safe Ride program.
