A lot has changed in the last three years, but the way the university uses Dateline UC Davis, its faculty-staff newsletter, has largely remained the same since its last overhaul. Now we’re asking if there are any ways we can improve the weekly e-newsletter.

Everyone who receives Dateline — whether you read it regularly or hardly at all — is invited to take a brief survey to share what is working and what doesn’t. The small team who puts the e-newsletter together each week is looking for ways to improve.

Should it contain more or less stories, videos or photos — and what kinds of stories, videos and photos? Should it be sent more or less frequently? Is there anything we can do to improve the readability? We hope you’ll share your honest thoughts with us and help make Dateline better. The survey should take less than 10 minutes to complete.

The deadline to respond to the survey is Friday, Dec. 16. (The deadline has been extended one week.)

In October 2019, Dateline got an all-new look that allowed for more photos, was easier to read on mobile phones, and included a better distinction between various sections. That redesign was the result of a survey earlier that year, which drew more than 1,000 responses.

The Dateline e-newsletter isn’t the only place to find news about UC Davis, and we’d like to hear how you prefer to stay up-to-date. We regularly post articles on the Dateline webpage, which is part of the university’s main News & Information site. We also share updates on the Dateline UC Davis Twitter account.

But there are many ways to get news about UC Davis, and the pandemic upended many of our regular habits. Does the way we communicate important updates to faculty and staff still work?
