Quick Summary
- Primary care facility will be an extension of the health system’s Davis clinic on West Covell Boulevard
- New clinic is for faculty and staff and others in the community who are UC Davis Health patients
- The health system has another campus clinic in the works: sports medicine and physical therapy
Construction is about to start on a UC Davis Health clinic on the Davis campus, offering primary care services to faculty and staff and others in the community who are patients of the health system. The clinic, due to open in November, will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The 4,000-square-foot clinic will be built at the west end of Parking Lot 40 at the corner of Hutchison Drive and Dairy Road. Signs in that section of the lot indicate "spaces closed" effective today (Jan. 24).
The campus clinic will be an extension of the UC Davis Health clinic on West Covell Boulevard in Davis, with many of the same physicians practicing at both locations. The new clinic will free up space in the West Covell clinic for the addition of advanced imaging services, including ultrasound and mammography.
The Wisconsin-based Boldt Co., which has locations nationwide, including Sacramento, won the construction contract for $5.3 million. Project completion is scheduled for October, and the clinic’s opening is set for the next month around the time of open enrollment.
This is the first of two UC Davis Health clinics coming to campus. The other clinic, with sports medicine services and physical therapy services, will be housed in the Student-Athlete Performance Center that is set to open in 2022.
The sports medicine clinic is one element of an expanded partnership between UC Davis Health and UC Davis Athletics, announced in November 2018 at the same time athletics unveiled its plan to build the Student-Athlete Performance Center and a practice field.
The practice field is finished and the Student-Athlete Performance Center will go next to it outside the northeast corner of UC Davis Health Stadium. The building project will comprise the new center of approximately 38,000 square feet and the renovation of 16,000 square feet of space in the Bob Foster Team Center on the stadium’s north perimeter.
UC Davis Health secured the stadium naming rights for 20 years in its expanded partnership with UC Davis Athletics, and became the exclusive provider of health care services to student-athletes in the performance center.
