Updated 2:30 p.m. Oct. 9: UC Davis continues to be outside the boundaries of potential power shutoffs. Also, UC Davis Health reported today that all of its clinics, even in Auburn and Rocklin, were open and serving patients as normal.
Pacific Gas and Electric Co. is monitoring a severe wind event expected to occur Wednesday morning through Thursday afternoon (Oct. 9-10) and has issued a wind advisory for many counties in Northern California and warned of possible power shutoffs as a precaution against wildfires.
Under this advisory, some parts of Yolo County may be affected by a power shutoff during that time. Under the wind advisory as of 10 a.m. today (Oct. 8), power on the UC Davis main campus will not be affected. However, conditions could change. If they do, we will notify the campus community through WarnMe and other channels. (Be sure to check your WarnMe contact information, and update if necessary.)
The campus’s “Power Outages” webpage, part of an overall web section on “Wildfire Season Weather Impacts,” tells how the campus will respond to a power outage.
It is possible that the city of Davis and surrounding areas could lose power while the UC Davis main campus is not affected. City and county notifications are available at the following links:
