The University of California, Davis, continues to receive accolades as one of the world’s leading universities.
In the QS World University Rankings released today (June 9), UC Davis ranked 13th among U.S. public universities and 33rd overall in the United States. UC Davis ranked 112th among 1,604 institutions considered and 1,001 universities with published rankings.
In other results released Sunday, the Center for World University Rankings, or CWUR, placed UC Davis 15th among U.S. public universities and 35th overall in the United States. The institution ranked 56th out of 20,000 universities worldwide.
About the rankings
Quacquarelli Symonds, or QS, widely considered to be one of the most influential international rankings providers, factored in results of surveys among academics and employers, the faculty-to-student ratio, the ratios of international faculty and international students, and an average for research citations per faculty member.
The CWUR took into account alumni who had won major academic distinctions or held top executive positions at the world’s largest companies; the proportion of faculty who had won major academic distinctions; and research performance measured by articles published, the prestige of the journals in which they were published and citations by other researchers.
Other recent rankings
In the inaugural QS World University Rankings: USA released in May, UC Davis ranked seventh overall among public universities and fourth among those in California. The campus tied for top spot with UCLA and the private New York University in the diversity and internationalization category.
In the QS World University Rankings by Subject published in March, UC Davis topped the world in veterinary science and ranked second in the world in agriculture and forestry. Showing the breadth of its excellence, the university was ranked in all five broad subject categories.
