The UC Board of Regents this week agreed to extend the stipends that Helen Henry and Gail Yokote are receiving as fill-ins for University Librarian Marilyn Sharrow, who is on leave and has announced her retirement effective March 1.
The action took place during the board's Jan. 19-21 meeting on UC San Francisco's Mission Bay campus.
Henry and Yokote became acting co-university librarians on Jan. 1, 2009, and at that time they began receiving their stipends: 10 percent of base pay.
The regents agreed to extend the stipends for one year to Dec. 31, 2010, or until Sharrow’s replacement is hired, and to keep the stipends at 10 percent but to boost the amounts to reflect the academic merit adjustments that Henry and Yokote received last year.
As approved, Henry will receive a $12,076 stipend on top of her new base pay of $120,756, for a total of $132,832; and Yokote will receive a $13,122 stipend on top of her new base pay of $131,220, for a total of $144,342.
Personnel actions involving two other high-level administrators received interim regental approval last month, in between meetings. A report on these interim actions and others went to the Board of Regents on Jan. 21, the last day of their meeting in San Francisco.
Here are details on the actions involving UC Davis administrators:
• John Meyer — Appointed as vice chancellor of Administrative and Resource Management (a consolidation of the Office of Resource Management and Planning and the Office of Administration), accompanied by a pay raise of nearly 12.3 percent to $275,000 a year. However, he elected to defer this raise and one last year, so his salary remains at $200,200.
Meyer formerly headed ORMP; as head of ARM, his expanded portfolio includes resource planning and finance, facilities and land management, and safety — some 1,650 employees in all.
• Stan Nosek — Appointed as a special consultant to the chancellor, in charge of the Administrative Process Redesign Initiative. Nosek’s salary is the same as what he earned as vice chancellor of the Office of Administration: $224,000 a year.
