Are you seeing purple on your Daily Symptom Survey?

Before we answer, we have a reminder: All employees (including student employees) are still required to take the survey and receive approval before accessing UC Davis facilities.

As of last Saturday (Sept. 24), some approvals are showing up in purple, which designates “conditional approval.” It does NOT prevent you from accessing facilities. Rather, it alerts you to one or more of the following conditions:

• You are not compliant with UC Vaccine Policy.
• You are a health care worker or other employee who has been in close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19 within the last 10 days.

The vaccine policy requires all employees (and students) to remain current on vaccine status or have an approved medical or religious exception.

“Current” includes the newest boosters from Pfizer and Moderna, which are bivalent vaccines, meaning they target both the most recent omicron subvariants as well as the original COVID-19 strain. The Pfizer booster is for people 12 and older and Moderna booster for people 18 and older, and you are eligible two months after either an initial vaccine series or monovalent booster.

UC Davis officials said noncompliance with the bivalent booster requirement “does not yet affect employment status, access to facilities or access to services at UC Davis.”

“Please consider these notices [of conditional approval] a reminder that you need to take action to become compliant with UC Vaccine Policy, and monitor campus news for updates regarding enforcement,” officials said on the Campus Ready website.

Getting vaccinated

Employees can find free vaccinations and boosters at multiple clinic locations in Yolo County, including options found on the My Turn website or the national database Vaccines.gov. Pharmacies such as Rite Aid, Walgreens and CVS also have direct scheduling portals.

UC Davis students can schedule free appointments for Pfizer vaccinations and booster shots at the Student Health and Wellness Center through the Health-e-Messaging portal. Students may also find appointments off-campus via My Turn and Vaccines.gov.  

Employees should enter their vaccination information into the Health-e-Messaging portal. Students should report their vaccinations if received off campus. How to report your vaccination and booster information.

Purple approvals also include detailed information on what you need to do if you have been in close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19 within the last 10 days.
