The bats were found in the area of Valley Hall in the Health Sciences District. County officials say that of the seven fallen bats, three tested positive for rabies, one tested negative and the other three were not tested. Vicky Fletcher, chief animal services officer for the county, said today (Nov. 9) that the county has not picked up any bats in the area since Oct. 31.
The UC Davis Environmental Health and Safety Office and the county are working to locate the potential bat roost and to alert people to avoid bats.
If you find a live or dead bat on campus, do not touch it or pick it up. Please call Yolo County Animal Services at 530-668-5287.
